Isidra uses her artwork to create awareness about the Garifuna and Afro-Latinx people. As a black woman herself, Isidra is also very interested in capturing and highlighting the inner and outer strength of black women.
Isidra holds an Agricultural Engineer degree from the prestigious Escuela Agricola Panamericana - El Zamorano in Honduras; she was the first Garifuna woman to graduate from this institution in its 70-year history. Isidra also holds a Master of Science degree from Louisiana State University. In 2007, while working United Nations Development Programme (PNUD) as an expert in Malaria control and prevention, she received a “Scientific Contribution Award” presented by the President of Honduras. Currently, Isidra works as a Research Specialist in one of the leading Medical Schools in North Carolina.
